AFTERSCHOOL & SUMMER PROGRAMS
CPACS operates afterschool and summer programs/sites that serve elementary, middle, and high school students. Our afterschool sites are located in DeKalb, Fulton, Cobb and Gwinnett counties. We also operate summer programs from June-August.
CPACS aims to build a healthy, caring and responsible community by increasing youth academic achievement, increasing youths’ internal assets (i.e., commitment to learning, caring for others, self-esteem) and reducing youths’ risky behavior. CPACS’s afterschool programs provide youth with safe and quality educational enrichment programs, homework tutorial, LifeSkills trainings and skill-based education workshops on preventing alcohol, tobacco and other drug use.
Youth Empowerment Program: Community Action for Teens (CAT)
The CAT program is intended for youth ages 14-18 who want to work together to learn and develop leadership skills in order to make a difference in their lives, families, schools and communities. CAT youth become advocates against challenging issues that trouble young people their age, namely alcohol and tobacco use. CAT members also participate in numerous community service projects aimed at building appreciation and respect for community, fostering leadership development and community service skills. CAT members meet on a regular basis and plan projects for the community.
Digital Connectors Program
CPACS recognizes not only the natural affinity for technology among young people, but also their potential for spreading technology knowledge and creating a culture of use in their neighborhoods. High school youth are immersed in technology training that builds their leadership and workplace skills to enter the 21st Century economy.
In addition to hands-on learning, Digital Connectors learn about career opportunities through site visits to technology companies and campus tours. A major program requirement is to give back to their families, friends, and communities what they have learned through community service.
Teen Employment and Jobs Readiness Skills Training: Jobs for Pay
This summer youth program combines both in-class training and work experience for youth ages 14-18. The program is designed to encourage participants to complete school, enhance citizenship skills, provide exposure experiences to the working world, and enhance basic educational skills.

GWINNETT API TEAM EMPOWERMENT (GATE)
CPACS created GATE with the purpose of uniting the Asian and Pacific Islander (API) community in Gwinnett County through a shared desire to support empowerment and action toward building a health community. GATE’s initiative relates to preventing and reducing the rate of alcohol-related traffic crash fatalities among youth and adults in Gwinnett County within the API community. GATE has specified three of the few largest API populations in Gwinnett County: Chinese, Korean, and Vietnamese.
