These include Medicaid, TANF (Temporary Assistance for Needy Families), Subsidized Child Care (CAPS), LIHEAP (energy assistance), Aging Services, Substance Abuse Services, WIC, Emergency Food Assistance, Mental Health Services, and Child Support. This online tool is provided through Georgia COMPASS (Common Point of Access to Social Services), Georgia's online Food Stamp application and pre-screening tool. COMMUNITY HEALTH NAVIGATORS
In 2007, the Georgia Asian Pacific Islander Community Coalition (GAAPICC), a community-led coalition, identified the need for a navigator program that can link people in need to services by people who speak their language and understand their culture. In 2008, CPACS began developing the program in collaboration with GAAPICC. The Community Health Navigator (CHN) Program started as a cancer navigator program. It was the first Asian-specific cancer navigator program in the state. The program provides health-related services and is free and open to all. Trained, bilingual individuals (called navigators) are the heart of the program. Navigators provide one-on-one services to clients who need assistance in navigating health systems. They help link clients to services, assist with understanding their treatment, and provide them with a support system. To become a navigator or to access this program, please contact CPACS.

FOOD PANTRY
CPACS’s Food Pantry is a supplemental food program for low-income Asian American families in metro Atlanta. We also help those families who have come upon hard times and simply need temporary food assistance. Our philosophy is to provide caring, consistent quality services and an equitable distribution of available Pantry resources to all clients. Clients are often referred to additional community resources to meet the variety of needs clients have in addition to food.

CPACS offers food packages made up of nonperishable food and hygiene products. These items are purchased at a low cost through a partnership with the Atlanta Community Food Bank. Our Food Pantry also relies heavily on donations from churches, organizations, corporations, and individuals.

Ways you can help...
CPACS’s Food Pantry is a labor of love relying heavily on the support of donations and volunteers. A donation to the Food Pantry helps in many essential ways. We welcome individuals, community groups, and local businesses to co-sponsor a month’s distribution with financial donations and volunteers for food packaging and distribution.

EMPLOYMENT TRAINING & CAREER COUNSELING
CPACS provides job-readiness training (i.e., interview and resume assistance) for individuals and families to become economically self-sufficient.

The purpose of the CPACS employment and job training services is to help families who are struggling to find jobs, keep jobs, and/or find better jobs to ultimately build a better life for themselves and their children.

CPACS provides a one-stop job search site by (1) making available a list of jobs, (2) maintaining and updating job information, (3) providing job readiness programs including interview skills, conversational English classes, and basic computer skills, and (4) providing a facility for job interviews and job fairs, (5) providing skills to build support services, and (6) educating basic financial literacy skills.

CPACS’s Employment Services is comprised of three projects with different focuses:
  • YinYang Project – focused on single-female headed households,
  • Jobs for Pay – focused on high school refugee youth, and
  • General – a comprehensive program targeted for adults.
All projects are tailored accordingly to gender, socio-economic, age, language and cultural challenges.
