COMMUNITY EDUCATION

ENGLISH LITERACY/CIVICS
Our English Literacy/Civics program targets adult learners and teaches them how to effectively participate in education, work and civic opportunities in the United States. Students will learn English and also understand social systems (governmental, educational, workplace, etc.).

We offer English Literacy/Civics in English-only instruction as well as bilingual instruction for those who are not yet comfortable with an English-only environment. Currently, bilingual instruction is available in Spanish, Korean, Vietnamese, Bhutanese, and Haitian Creole.

DUI/RISK REDUCTION PROGRAM
The 20-hour DUI/ Risk Reduction Intervention Course is offered monthly at CPACS. Classes are conducted in English or Korean. Please call for scheduling. Participants will be issued a Certificate of Completion upon completion.

DEFENSIVE DRIVING COURSES (DDC)
The 6-hour Defensive Driving Class is offered monthly at CPACS. Classes are conducted in English or Korean. Please call for scheduling. Participants will be issued a Certificate of Completion upon completion.

FOOD SAFETY MANAGER CERTIFICATION PROGRAM
This certification is required of anyone preparing to open a food service establishment or employed at such a workplace. Certification is mandatory not only for restaurants but also for bakeries or ice cream/yogurt parlors. In addition, produce stands selling cleaned vegetables need a food handler’s certification, as do mobile vendors of tacos or flat cakes. All businesses handling unsealed food items need this certification. It is safe to assume that all businesses dealing with meat, milk, or anything containing protein or potentially perishable come under this requirement.

Currently, CPACS classes are conducted in English or Korean. The examination is available in Korean, Vietnamese, Chinese, English, and Spanish.
